I'm BACK!

It's been exactly three months ago today that I last posted here. Not that I haven't been here and attempted, I just never finished sad to say. I really do want this time to be different and to be more consistent with posting here but I seems so strange to post here and no one sees it. This is the point when I explain that prior to starting this blog (for a business bootcamp I was in last year), I had never been to or seen a blog, didn't then and still don't know a lot about blogging. I've been told it's like keeping a journal, well believe it or not I was never successful at keeping a journal or diary either, I tried but I kept forgetting to write in it too, lol. Looking back over this blog I believe my best entries were back at the beginning so I think I'm going to repost those most important or interesting entries again! This time last year, I adopted the motto of "Don't Wait for the New Year to Start Working on a New You!" so that's what I'm going to do now. I'm not going to wait until 2013 to start posting in this blog again, I'm going to start again NOW and when 2013 gets here, I'll look back and see what I've accomplished, and I hope you'll be with me every step of the way!

In his photo my daughter and her son have joined me on my GirlTrek 40-Day Gratitude Trek, which is a 40 day commitment to say - THANK YOU LORD - with our bodies and time. Dedicating 30 minutes each day  to the act of gratitude and walking. Giving praise for awaking another day and being able to enjoy all we've been blessed with! With only 17 days left, I'm just so thankful for this opportunity and I plan to end this trek on Thanksgiving Day in a Turkey Chase 10k race where I'll be praising God every step of way! Blessings from FAITH!

July 26 is a FABULOUS day for non-stop C~E~L~E~B~R~A~T~I~O~N~S! It's my Team Beachbody second anniversary. On July 26, 2010, I signed up to be an Independent Team Beachbody Representative (also known as a Coach) and began the most AMAZING career opportunity of my life! In all my years as a Service Representative, I never knew how truly rewarding it could be to help someone reach their HEALTH/Fitness goal. To help someone get off of medication, reduce their risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes or other preventable illnesses is just beyond words!

I set a goal to reach 2,000 fans on my Facebook fitness page in order to reach more people to 'Share' as much HEALTHY information with as possible. I asked the people that visit my page to share my page with their friends and we were getting close. On that morning I woke up and checked my page and it was only a little over 1,900 "like" Fans. I asked everyone to INVITE, INVITE, INVITE! Hoping to hit 2,000 by noon, then noon passes and we were close but not there yet. I visited other pages inviting others to visit and by 1:30 pm we were almost there with 1,996 Fans. So I kept visiting other pages and almost missed it when at 1:39 pm we were at 1,999... OMGosh! I switched back in time to see Sarah-Louise Woodward of Nottinghamshire, England become our 2,000 "like" Fan! That was so exciting, Thank you Sarah-Louise!

P90X Women

To Be A P90X
WOMAN!

Over the last two years I've hit some all time HIGHS when it comes to weight loss! I've been down to as low as 132 lbs which is the lowest I've weighed in over 30 years! Being a woman OVER 50, having had 5 children , 3 of which were delivered by c-section and having major surgery for the removal of uterine fibroids more than once, has all done a major job on my body. Yet by the grace of God, I've been able to transform my HEALTH and weight concerns so that I can now be FITNESS focused!

I purchased a new scale to start the New Year off right. It gives you all this great info like your BMI, hydrations level, body fat percentage and what your caloric intake should be to reach our goal weight. Wow, I thought this is AWESOME! Then the other day my daughter looked up what our body fat percentage should be and I wanted to pass out! Imagine my surprise to find out that after losing over 60 pounds and keeping it off for over two years my body fat percentage (over 30%) is on the borderline of obese!!! I knew I was a little flabby from losing all the weight but borderline obese never entered my mind. Needless to say I'm now on a mission to reduce my body fat down to 20 percent and build some muscle.

I'm going to be a P90X WOMAN! I will be using Tony Horton's P90X fitness program to break down my body fat and build muscle to strengthen my body. Realizing that there may be other women approaching 50 or older, that want to lose 50 pounds or more, who are facing similar dilemma and want to work together to make a change, I decided to put together the Fabulously Fit 50 - P90X Women Challenge. We'll make modification as need until we can do the standard exercises. Bottom line, WE WILL do this no matter what! To join me call/text me: (850) 459-9643. Blessings from FAITH!

Technologically Challenged

I know this post might seem strange for the 4th of July, when everything is about Independence Celebrations, but this is what's going on with me today!

This message is about ME! Of course it's suppose to be about a runner training for a race or to encourage those trying to forge on with their exercise plan or HEALTHY Lifestyle change. However, for ME it speaks to my everyday challenge with anything connected with technology. That means my new EVO phone (cell phones in general), my Garmin Forerunner 305, my Sanyo 5X camera, my lap-tops/computers, social media, you name it... I like to attribute it to my mid-life CHANGE going on, lol... It's been 2 weeks since I last posted on this blog because I couldn't log back into it. I could see my blog but I couldn't access the right account, yes I LEARNED that I have multiple accounts. The same thing happened last week with my YouTube account, it appears that every time I couldn't get into an account I just started a new one???  Every day I came to this blog and tried to add a new post and I couldn't until today when I became DETERMINED to push through my technology challenges (I know it doesn't sound like a technology issue but to me it's all the same) and CHANGE ME! I'll be celebrating my INDEPENDENCE from technology challenges. I'm going to MASTER all the gadgets, social media and anything else that presents a perceived CHALLENGE in my life! Have a FABULOUSLY Fit 50, 4th of July! Blessings from FAITH!

FABULOUSLY Fit 50 - SQUATS!

Happy TGIFitness Friday!

It's been a while since I posted here so I thought I better get started again, lol. As you can see in the photo above I'm working on perfecting my squats. That way I know I'm strengthening my core and burning FAT off my thighs! I'm learning that the key to better HEALTH is eating clean, drinking more than 64 ozs of water daily (I try to drink at least 95 ozs a day) & strength training. I still do a lot of cardio but I'm working on bringing balance to my body.

Ok for those approaching 50 or those 50 and over, are you able to do SQUATS? If not feel free to join me in getting your SQUAT On! Here's some info I found on squats. Blessings from FAITH!

Squat exercises for are the best exercises to shape up the thighs and buttocks. Along with the thighs and buttocks, they also help in working the stomach and other associated muscles in the lower body. There are a number of types of squats, which you can do. The different types include regular squats (where you try to imitate sitting down), full squats (where you are sitting down on your two legs), jump squats (in this, you go down in regular squats and then jump up in the air), inner thigh squats (it is similar to regular squats, but you point your feet in the opposite directions), etc. All of them are very effective, and it is very difficult to say, which of them are the best squats. It more so depends on the exercise pattern and how well you do each one of them. Squats are known to target more muscles than just about any other exercise. They, in particular, target the hamstrings, gluteal muscles, thighs, hip flexors and the calf muscles. The most important benefit of squats is that they build strength in the legs and give definition to the gluteal muscles and thigh muscles. When squats are done correctly, they increase strength in the back as well as help strengthen the muscles around the joints. Since it is a compound exercise, it is particularly effective for burning fat and building strength, which are two essential components of leg and butt toning regime.

Squats actually can be done any time of the day, however, a warm up is necessary before you do them. Once you have got accustomed to this exercise, you can increase the intensity of the exercise by using weights. You can choose to do squats with dumbbells or with barbells. However, as mentioned previously, if you experience knee pain, do not continue with the exercise.
